3Cs Counter Cartographies Collective UNC // Chapel Hill // USA
In September I’m off to join the 3Cs at UNC to explore, learn and take part in the collective’s activities. At the minute, I’m piecing together logistics etc – it’s my first proper time in the States, but I’m looking forward to it, and the guys at UNC have been brilliant and very patient with my constant requests for help and information!
The great thing about 3Cs from what I can tell this side of the pond is that they get beyond the ivory tower, something I’ve been lazy to escape, and that they combine inter-disciplinary ambition with genuine political activism.
The other upside – apparently I’ll have my own office! Classic! No such luxury in Oxford I can tell you!

Hitch-hiking // Oxford//Southampton//Portsmouth//Plymouth//Chieveley//Didcot//Oxford
A few months ago, Thomas and I tried to re-claim hitch-hiking as a technology of experimentation, to bring it back into the fold of geographical fieldwork. It was also part of a global movement (of sorts), called Society of Molecules. Take a look at our brief story here.
Oh, and by the way, give hitch-hiking a go… and before you fret, hitch-hiking is legal in the UK, except on Motorways!
Great article . Will definitely copy it to my website.
